Japan’s Kazuki Higa made four birdies in a row after making par on the first hole at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

The most impressive putt from this streak came on the 12th hole when Higa attempted a 34-foot putt that appeared to come up just short but rolled in after a slight pause. That helped him secure a tie for the lead at the time.

Higa nearly started the first round with five consecutive birdies but his birdie putt on the first hole landed on the edge of the cup.

Having made his mark in Asia with six wins on the Japan Golf Tour, Higa comes to the PGA this week looking to make a name for himself. He missed the cut at the Masters earlier this year and The Open Championship last year at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. Higa is seeking to make his first career cut in a major.
