“It’s [Aronimink Golf Club] a wonderful golf course. Probably as good of conditions as we’ve ever had for a [PGA] Championship.”
For more than 30 years, Kerry Haigh, the PGA of America’s Chief Championships Officer, has played a pivotal role in preparing host venues for PGA Championships.
His central philosophy revolves around balancing a rigorous challenge for the best players in the world, with ensuring it’s a fair test that rewards quality golf shots.
To maintain variety while also allowing for individual player strategy, Haigh and his team utilize multiple hole locations and make tactical adjustments based on real-time data from a dedicated weather team and the host agronomy staff.
“The playing surfaces are amazing. They have not played on the golf course since last November,” said Haigh. “They closed the course and allowed it to heal from last fall's play and this is why it looks so beautiful.”
This meticulous attention to detail ensures a world-class course that’s prepared to host the 2026 Championship.
