Justin Thomas will not repeat as PGA Championship this year but that won’t stop him from making memories for the fans that will last a lifetime at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y.

After shooting 2-over 72 Sunday during the final round, Thomas signed autographs for spectators and gifted his sand wedge to a young fan. The club will not hold much long-term value to Thomas after it labored this weekend but it will mean everything to the boy who will surely never forget this PGA Championship experience.

Thomas ended with a 12-over-par total, which places him in a tie for 65th place. A successful title defense would have made Thomas the third golfer to win three PGA Championships in the stroke-play era which began in 1958.

The Louisville, Ky. native previously won in 2017 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte and last year at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla.

Thomas’ kind gesture goes to prove that going home with the Wanamaker Trophy is not the only way to leave a mark at the PGA Championship.
