He's a two-time Major Champion, having won both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship in 2024.
His wins came at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky and Royal Troon in Scotland.
Although born in La Jolla, California, he belongs to four nationalities. His mother is from Taiwan (but grew up in Japan) and his father is half-French and half-German.
Is part of golf's high school Class of 2011 that includes, among others, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger.
His father, Stefan, was an elite athlete in Germany before he was hit by a drunk-driver in a head-on collision which ended his dreams of being an Olympic athlete.
Was voted Big West Freshman of the Year while attending Long Beach State in 2011-12. Two-time Southern California Amateur runner-up (2012-13). 2014 California State Amateur Champion. Earned All-American honors in 2014-15 at San Diego State University.
