Patrick Reed has 12 appearances in the PGA Championship and has come close — none closer than 2017 at Quail Hollow — but the Wanamaker Trophy continues to elude him. At Aronimink Golf Club in 2026, he's back for another attempt.

Here's a full look at Reed's history at the PGA Championship.

2017: The One That Got Away

Reed's best chance at the Wanamaker came at Quail Hollow in 2017. He opened with a 69 to sit just two back of the lead, slipped in Round 2 with a 73, then steadily climbed back into contention through the weekend. A final-round 67 — his low round of the week — vaulted him to a solo runner-up finish, two shots behind winner Justin Thomas.

2016: The Breakout at Baltusrol

A year before his near-miss, Reed announced himself as a legitimate PGA Championship contender at Baltusrol. His second-round 65 — the lowest single round of his PGA Championship career — powered him into the top 10, and he ultimately finished T-13 at 6-under. It was the performance that set the stage for his runner-up run the following year.

A Major Champion Who Keeps Showing Up

Reed won the 2018 Masters — his only major title — but his PGA Championship résumé shows a player who consistently competes at the highest level across 46 major championship starts:

  • 36 cuts made in 46 major starts
  • 8 career major top-10 finishes
  • Solo 3rd at the 2025 Masters

His 2026 major season is already underway with a T-12 at Augusta, where he opened 69-69 before the weekend slipped away. The ball-striking has been sharp — he ranked 9th in strokes gained off the tee and 7th around the greens at the Masters.

The Road to Aronimink

Reed's 2026 season has been largely contested on the DP World Tour, where he's been dominant:

  • Won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (-14)
  • Runner-up at the Bahrain Championship (-17, lost in a playoff)
  • Won the Qatar Masters (-16)
