California’s own Patrick Cantlay carded one of the two lowest rounds of the morning wave with a bogey-free 4-under par 66 to jump inside the top 20 - at the time he finished his round. Cantlay sits at 3-under par and will have some work to do to give himself a chance come Sunday. Cantlay is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour but remains in search of his first major championship. In 2019, Cantlay finished T3 in his third appearance and best finish at the PGA Championship.

Ian Poulter birdied the par 4, 18th hole to join Cantlay with a 66 on moving day. Poulter also sits at 3-under par. He has two top 10s in his 17 prior PGA Championship appearances including a T3 in 2012.
